Master Cleanse Day 4
Today was a good day.
When doing the cleanse last year I remember there was something magical about day four, and this year wasn’t any different. While I woke up with the same pains and weakness, I was quickly reenergized after a few sips of the lemonade and ready to start my day. I had more energy than I’ve had all week.
I cleaned, I planned, I ran errands. Not only did I lose another pound (for a total of seven so far), but much more importantly, I felt the satisfaction that comes with knowing I am in control of my body. Food does not control me – I control food. My desires don’t control me – I control my desires. Even right now at the end of my day, I feel a lightness inside me that is both physical and spiritual. I feel a sense of peace.
I think I have decided that tomorrow – my fifth day – will be my last day. It came to me calmly today. I was ready. It wasn’t a hysterical, ” I need to finish this!!” kind of feeling, but rather, a rational conclusion to my experience so far. I felt ready. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow evening, but I’m sure I won’t argue with this logic
I’m excited about the clean slate of health I’ve created for myself and I am motivated to treat my body well. I remember feeling this way last year during and after the cleanse, but of course, as the months went by, the momentum passed.
That’s why I want to commit to one day of fasting each month in the new year. Last night I read all about rice fasts, fruit fasts, juice fasts – all types of fasts that people have been doing for thousands of years. With even one day per month, I will be able to give my body and mind a chance to rest, breathe, and be more present. I will be more conscious of what I eat and how I live my life.
So here we are at the end of day four. I feel proud and accomplished, and I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
