Master Cleanse: The Conclusion

Thank GOODNESS it’s over icon wink Master Cleanse: The Conclusion

For five full days I went without food, followed the master cleanse lemonade formula strictly, and then made my “ease” out. While I did not do a strict ease out of just vegetables and fruit and broth, I have made a point to be very healthy and I’m already eating differently than I did right before the fast. I feel really good and I lost a solid seven pounds.

This cleanse really inspired me and reminded me that I am stronger than I think. I have the ability to do great things and I have focus, determination, and dedication. These emotional “side effects” may be the best part of a cleanse.

I am truly motivated to do a 24 hour fast each month in the new year. It has been fascinating reading about juice, rice, and fruit fasts and I can’t wait to see what a difference they make.

So to everyone out there considering a fast or detox, I have a few words of advice (take them or leave them):

1) Never underestimate yourself. You are capable of extraordinary things.

2) Be conscious – know the difference between “quitting” and “rationally deciding on the right time to stop” (meditate on it)

3) Fill your detox/fast period with ample quiet reflection time and enriching activities (like writing, art, or whatever inspires you)

4) Be kind to yourself. Just as you would to anyone you care about – there’s nothing better than a good balance of compassion and tough love.

5) Just TRY it. Never quit a fast or detox in less than 24 hours. Give yourself at least a day and see where it takes you.
