Filmmaking
After studying creative writing and filmmaking at San Francisco State University and California State University, Fullerton, Wendy worked as a Film Education and Talent Development Coordinator with Film Independent for a number of years. Inspired by helping emerging artists develop their craft, Wendy became eager to hone her own creative skills. She went on to receive her M.F.A. in screenwriting from the American Film Institute Conservatory where she wrote and produced an award-winning short film that premiered at the 2007 AFI Fest. Thereafter, she was a professional script analyst and film journalist, and wrote for MovieClips.com, One of TIME Magazine’s “50 Best Websites of 2010.” (Top 5: Music & Video category).
Wendy continues to write, produce and direct, and currently has short and feature-length projects in development. View her directing samples below and email Wendy@WendyWegner.com to request additional examples of her work.
The feature screenplay Hermo Jones is Back in Style is about a late 20s comedian struggling to get famous, get laid, and grieve the loss of his best friend to gay marriage (all in three months, and in no particular order). The script was written by Wendy Wegner and Ben Starr.
